Both pacemakers and defibrillators have become smaller, less invasive and more reliable over the past six decades. However, despite all the technological improvements, device-related complications still occur frequently. The aim of Reinoud Knoops’s research is to study strategies for further reducing the burden of complications through the introduction of three revolutionary and radically different cardiac electronic devices.
