Over the last century a multitude of artists have turned to mapping for their work's formal and thematic substance. In his research, Simon Ferdinand studies this field of arts practice, often termed 'map art'. He uses a method of cultural analysis informed by geographical theory, foregrounding the ways in which map making is tied up with institutions and processes of global modernity.
