Inger van der Kooij carries out research into the prevalence of child abuse and neglect in Suriname, paying special attention to sexual abuse. He also looks at perceptions of the use and function of corporal punishment among young people and parents or caregivers from different ethnic backgrounds. Another focus is on the prevention of child abuse through the implementation and evaluation of a parenting programme.
