Inherited arrhythmia syndromes account for a large subset of sudden cardiac death in young people. Research has shown that rare genetic variants in genes encoding ion channels often underlie these disorders. Christiaan Veerman studies the use of a new technique that makes it possible to study patient-specific cardiac cells carrying mutations and genetic variations of interest.
