Dawn Lee Bales studies the implementation of Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) for patients with borderline personality disorder in the Netherlands. Mentalizing refers to the psychological process of understanding oneself and others in terms of thoughts, feelings, wishes and desires. The aim of MBT is to increase the resilience of patients' mentalizing capacity to help them understand their own behaviour and that of others.
