The ventral tegmental area is a dopaminergic nucleus in the midbrain, which plays a role in memory, learning and the reward system.As the detailed functionality of the local VTA network and its role in cognitive processing is largely unknown, Luuk van der Velden studies this network to better understand how it supports the varied tasks it is implicated in.
