By analysing and simulating the collisions at the Large Hadron Collider particle physicists are trying to verify, understand and expand the Standard Model of particle physics. This requires excellent detector performance and accurate Monte Carlo simulation tools. Maria Tsagri analyses the performance of both detector and simulation tools and provides suggestions on how to improve both.
