Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is the most common inherited cause of intellectual disability and autism, affecting approximately 1 in 6000 children.Although several neurophysiological and developmental hallmarks have been identified in a mouse model of FXS, there is no effective treatment for the condition, in part because it has proven difficult to establish reliable models of its cognitive manifestations. The aim of Tara Arbab's research is to develop such a reliable model.
