About 0.8% of Dutch population has Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis (UC), which are chronic inflammations affecting the gastrointestinal tract. They are also known as inflammatory bowel diseases. Jessica de Bruyn researches two problems that are related to inflammatory bowel diseases: fibrosis and the anti-inflammatory role of vitamin D.
