Yuda Hananta’s research focuses on the diagnostics of gonorrhoea and related antimicrobial resistance in Indonesia. Gonorrhoea is often asymptomatic and because people do not experience any symptoms many of them do not seek medical assistance and continue their sexual activities. In this way asymptomatic cases contribute to the transmission of the disease in the population. In Indonesia most clinics rely on symptoms to diagnose gonorrhoea; there are only a few clinics equipped to screen for the disease using up-to-date diagnostics.
