Biomaterial-associated infection (BAI) is one of the most serious complications after implantation of biomaterials (i.e. medical devices such as heart valves, joint prostheses and catheters). Xiaolin Zhang develops a new animal model for studying host-biomaterial interactions and BAI as well as novel treatment strategies for BAI aimed at eradicate intracellular bacteria.
