Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease are the two most common forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Nicolette Duijvis explores different ways of improving the management of IBD. She does this by retrospectively analysing well-known treatment protocols for severe UC in terms of outcome and financial impact, as well as exploring etiopathological mechanisms that could be targeted by intervention.
