In analytical chemistry there are many examples of very successful couplings of different analytical methods, for example of liquid chromatography and mass spectography. Bob Pirok's research focuses on developing new hyphenated systems, focusing on microbes in beer-brewing processes, heavy-oil fractions, lignin- and cellulose-type polymers, and formulations of polymeric nanoparticles used in coatings and drug-delivery systems.
