In response to the deterioration of aquatic ecosystems policy targets have been defined to prevent further biodiversity losses. The aim of Peter van Puijenbroek's research is to bridge the gap between these targets and ecosystem responses to environmental pressures and restoration measures. He does this by developing methods to describe the links in the Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response framework quantitatively, develop science-policy indicators, analyze restoration measures and analyse spatial and temporal aspects of scale.
