In this thesis, we studied the reactions of molecular complexes based on the metal gold.
It has been shown that the reactivity of these complexes is drastically altered upon locking them in a molecular cage. In this way, different reaction products can be formed. Another feature of the cages in these reactions is that certain molecules are blocked from the cage while others may go inside, thus enabling more selective reactions. We envision that the special features of these systems will play an important role in the synthesis of new and complex molecular products.
