When texts are translated into other languages, idiosyncratic features of the source text are sometimes normalised to make them conform to the features of the target language. Imogen Cohen studies normalisation in literary translation, by studying the way creative collocations and compounds in Dutch novels are translated into English in six-prize winning translations.
