Rik Spanjers considers the causes and effects of the success of Art Spiegelman's Maus (1980-1991) and chart the formal directions in which WWII comics have moved since. he does so by analysing Peter Pontiac's 'Kraut', Shigeru Mizuki's 'Onward Toward Our Noble Deaths', and 'Magneto: Testament' by Grek Pak and Carmine Di Giandomenico.
