Willy Sier studies Chinese education migrants and looks into what the impact of access to higher education is in the lives of rural Chinese youth. The increase of rural youth at Chinese universities is a driving force for the expansion of China's higher education system. Although education migrants are often the first in their family to earn a degree, their position in the labour market is weak, and they remain stigmatised as rural citizens.
