The Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has again called upon the cabinet to abandon the proposed cuts in higher education.

The Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has again called upon the cabinet to abandon the proposed cuts in higher education. ‘We want the Netherlands to be among the top five knowledge economies and that 50% of our workforce is highly-educated’, said president Karel van der Toorn. ‘That will happen only if we invest in higher education. We therefore again urge the cabinet to abandon the planned cuts. That means: no cuts in the budgets of universities and universities of applied sciences and no cuts in student grants and scholarships.’
