On 30 November, the company Heijmans commenced with excavation work commissioned by energy provider Liander. This work will be carried out in the Sarphatistraat/Valckenierstraat and is expected to last approximately four days. Starting from the UvA grounds (gas plant located at Valckenierstraat 67) the low-pressure gas train will be dismantled and the low-pressure gas lines will be removed. Liander’s Netcare department will remove the gas train valve system in this area (the lines run for approximately two meters from the UvA to the street).

The section under the roadway will not be removed but it will be disconnected in order to keep the roadway open for traffic. On the opposite side, a short section of the gas line (approximately 10 meters) will be removed from under the green area.
