The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has the best website of all higher education institutions in the Netherlands.
This is according to the 2013 Higher Education Web Ranking, which also saw the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences/Hogeschool van Amsterdam (AUAS/HvA) win first prize in the category of universities of applied sciences and come in second behind the UvA in the overall ranking.
The UvA attracted particularly high scores on technology and content. Said Mendel Stecher, UvA web manager: ‘Over the past few years we have worked very hard to transform the UvA-web. This result is a great encouragement in that is clearly tells us we’re on the right track. But of course this is a project that will never be finished.’
As part of this benchmark, the websites of all higher education institutions are assessed in terms of content, user-friendliness, design, social media activity and technology. The final ranking is derived from an assessment by students combined with a technical evaluation by Internet professionals.
The Higher Education Web Ranking is an initiative of of ScienceGuide, a Dutch online news magazine for the knowledge sector, and Strategy on Demand, a Leiden-based Internet consultancy.
