The Executive Board would like to thank the Supervisory Boards for their enormous efforts and the speed and assiduousness with which they have drawn conclusions and taken decisions. The broad support makes it possible to jointly effectuate the UvA’s reform agenda.
We as colleagues would like to express our utmost gratitude for the tireless way in which Louise Gunning has given leadership to the UvA and AUAS/HvA since 1 April 2012. Upon her appointment, she was charged with further shaping the collaboration between the UvA, AUAS/HvA and VU University. The vigour and enthusiasm with which she did this in turn strengthened higher education in Amsterdam. Louise fulfilled her role with a great amount of passion and personal dedication. It was a privilege to have worked with her and we are glad that she will continue to bolster the UvA in her capacity as university professor.
Teaching and research remain highly regarded at both institutions. A solid foundation therefore exists on which we can direct our energies towards the UvA’s reform agenda. Together with all the various parties, we will work to restore calm within the academic community, thereby allowing the AUAS/HvA to continue on its current path and the essential reforms to take root at the UvA.
We are glad with the appointment of Edgar du Perron as vice-rector of the UvA. His appointment will ensure that the Executive Board handles this process with the care and attention it deserves.
