Prof. W.C. (Wim) Sinke has received a royal decoration for his exceptional contribution to society as a director of research and development in the field of sustainable energy.
Sinke received the award during the symposium ‘Our solar energy future’ which took place on Friday, 13 November. Six speakers from the Netherlands and abroad presented the latest developments in the field of solar cell research and praised Sinke’s contributions to this field. At the end of the symposium, the mayor of Sinke’s municipality Hollands Kroon, Mr J. Nawijn, came on stage to present Sinke with the Order of the Lion of the Netherlands.
Sinke has part-time appointments in the focus group Light Management in New Photovoltaic Materials at the FOM Institute AMOLF and as a professor at the University of Amsterdam. He also works at the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). He began his career as a PhD student at AMOLF and was later AMOLF group leader in the then-new field of research photovoltaics.
