The selection committee tasked with recruiting a new dean for the Faculty of Humanities has decided to nominate Fred Weerman, professor of Dutch Linguistics and chair of the UvA’s Department of Dutch Studies, as candidate.
In recent months an advisory committee, together with representatives of the faculty community, has been hard at work drawing up a profile for the new dean of the faculty and on compiling a longlist of candidates. The selection committee – in consultation with the advisory committee – subsequently proceeded to make a shortlist and hold interviews with the potential candidates.
On Monday, 11 July from 16:30 to 17:30, the faculty will organise a public debate with Prof. Fred Weerman for all students and staff. The debate will be held in the VOC hall, Kloveniersburgwal 48. A consultative meeting will subsequently take place with the Faculty Works Council and Faculty Student Council. The Executive Board will then decide on whether to appoint the candidate as dean.
The aim is to ensure the faculty has a new dean by 1 September.
