Huawei, a global ICT solutions provider, will continue its collaboration with the University of Amsterdam through the ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme.
Two years ago the UvA and Huawei successfully launched this pilot programme in the Netherlands. The two-week programme, which takes place in China, offers students the opportunity to improve their skills and industry knowledge of the ICT sector. It also allows them to gain cross-cultural work experience and learn more about Chinese culture.
Other universities who will this year also be taking part are Leiden University, the University of Twente and Eindhoven University of Technology. Over the last few months outstanding students in the field of Science & ICT have gone through a rigorous selection process. A total of 20 students, four of whom are from the UvA, were selected on the basis of their CV, grades, letter of motivation and a personal interview with Huawei. The trip to China will take place from 8 July to 23 July.
The students will gain practical experience and new ICT expertise by doing courses and research projects at Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The projects will centre on developing solutions and concepts with respect to developments like Smart City, Smart Home, Internet of Things and broadband connectivity in rural areas. The students will also take a course on Chinese language and culture at Beijing University of Language and Culture. After completing the programme, the students will present a case study and receive a certificate from Huawei.
