The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is one of the top 65 universities worldwide according to the 2018-2019 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This year, the UvA is ranked in 62nd place, three spots below last year’s ranking, when the UvA was in 59th place.

The Times Higher Education Rankings, which were published on Wednesday, 26 September, are based on 13 performance indicators distributed over five broad categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%). The UvA has scored highest in terms of citations and international outlook.

Seven Dutch universities in the top 100

There are seven Dutch universities in the top 100 of the THE Rankings. This year, the UvA is the third highest Dutch university on the list. The top two Dutch universities are TU Delft (#58) and Wageningen University & Research (#59) respectively. The highest ranked university is the University of Oxford, followed by the University of Cambridge and Stanford University in 2 and 3 place respectively.
