The Amsterdam Innovation Award is is an Amsterdam competition for innovative ideas with a societal and/or commercial impact. The jury, led by Gigi Wang, has selected nine finalists for the Innovation Award from all submissions received from Amsterdam knowledge and research institutes. A prize of  €7,500 will be awarded to the winner in eah of three categories.

The finalists include the UvA's Chris Slootweg (' Circular phosphate economy: Pioneers in closing the phosphorus cycle') and Jill Coster van Voorhout ('Follow the money: Detecting crimes through new financial technologies' ). You can find the full list on the AMSIA website.

About the Innovation Award

The Amsterdam Innovation Award is an annual competition for the best applicable innovation resulting from Amsterdam research. The feasibility of the idea and the social benefit play an important role in the jury assessment. This award is open to all researchers, staff and students in all disciplines from all Amsterdam universities, universities of applied sciences, academic hospitals and public research centers.

The Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award is organized by IXA, the joint knowledge transfer office of Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). The City of Amsterdam fully endorses this innovation award for the city of Amsterdam.
