Ten Dam and Maex were first appointed with effect from 1 June 2016. The Supervisory Board has followed with appreciation how Ten Dam and Maex have given substance to their positions and how the Executive Board has managed the UvA over the period of their first terms. Supervisory Board chairperson Marise Voskens is pleased that Ten Dam and Maex are available for new terms on the Board: ‘Geert and Karen see and hear what is important to staff and students. They stand up for the interests of the university community and for the position and role of the UvA in society, and they dare to speak their minds on these topics. In this way they make an important contribution to the administrative quality and continuity of the Executive Board.’
The Central Student Council (CSR) and the Central Works Council (COR) also gave a positive opinion on the reappointments. ‘The COR appreciates the way in which Geert and Karen have gone about their duties and looks forward with confidence to future meetings with them,’ says Gerwin van der Pol, chair of the COR. ‘The CSR has worked constructively with this Executive Board in recent years, thanks to the commitment and dedication of Geert and Karen,’ adds CSR chair Pjotr van der Jagt.
