It was with great horror that we learned of the murder of teacher Samuel Paty in France. A passionate and committed teacher, he was murdered for teaching freedom of speech. As fellow educational professionals, we wish to express our wholehearted support for what he stood for. All teachers, all over the world, must be able to give lessons without fear or external pressure. This murder is also an attack on our education, and thus on our society in which freedom of expression is one of our most important core democratic values. As a university, we will continue to stand firmly for this. This affects us deeply. Samuel Paty must not be forgotten.
