The Executive Board (CvB) of the University of Amsterdam has reappointed Machiel Keestra as Central Diversity Officer (CDO). This decision was made following consultations with the central works council, the central student council, several deans, and Faculty Diversity Officers. The reappointment will take effect on 1 February 2025 and is for a period of three years.

Since his appointment in 2022, Keestra has taken significant steps to promote diversity, inclusion, and equality (DIG) at the UvA. As CDO, he coordinates various university-wide initiatives in collaboration with his team, supports the Faculty Diversity Officers in their efforts at the faculty level, and engages in dialogue and collaboration with networks both within and beyond the university. The CvB is pleased that Keestra will continue his work in these areas over the next three years.
