The QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on reputation among experts in the field and employers, as well as research citations. These criteria are weighed differently per subject area. For the QS World University Rankings by Subject, 3002 universities were evaluated and a total of 689 were ranked.
The overall QS World University Rankings are always published in the autumn. In the 2013 edition, the UvA was the highest ranked Dutch university (58th) for the fourth consecutive year.
