Prof. AE Ronner has been appointed extraordinary professor of (Enterprise) Risk Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Prof. AE Ronner (b. 1947) has been appointed extraordinary professor of (Enterprise) Risk Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Universiteit van Amsterdam. The chair has been endowed by Stichting Verzekeringswetenschap (Insurance Sciences Foundation) and is facilitated by Stichting Assurantiebeurs Amsterdam (Insurance Exchange Foundation Amsterdam). It is a new chair.

Arjen Ronner will be occupying himself with - among other things - education and research in the field of identifying, quantifying and financing the risks that enterprises encounter in their daily practice. Ronner will be teaching in the master’s in insurance studies at the Amsterdam Business School, and will also be giving an innovating impulse to the course and research group of Actuarial Sciences.

Ronner works at Aon Risk Management (part of Aon Netherlands) as executive director. The focus of Aon Risk Management’s activities is on assisting clients in gaining insight in risks and the options for controlling or insuring these risks, or for financing them in another way. Ronner has also been working at the Vrije Universiteit since 1993 as extraordinary professor in Financial Econometrics and since 2000 as extraordinary professor of Actuarial Sciences.

Ronner studied Econometrics at the University of Groningen and obtained his PhD there as well. He held several positions at Royal Philips from 1984 till 2001. As corporate risk manager he was responsible for Philips’ policy in the field of risk and insurance management from 1994 till 2000. He worked at Zurich Financial Services from 2001 till 2005 where he was responsible for strategic relationship management and market management in The Netherlands.
