Ever since the University of Amsterdam started with the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage training programme, Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL) has been a valuable partner.
In 2005, the existing conservation programmes of the Cultural Heritage Agency, then ICN, and the SRAL merged into the current programme at the UvA. SRAL used to train conservation students in the specialisations of Paintings and Painted Objects, Historic Interiors, and Modern Art. Today, the latter specialisation continued as Contemporary Art and is now fully incorporated in the UvA programme. The Paintings conservation students spend their third year of their training at the SRAL in Maastricht as part of their Post-Master traineeship. In addition, SRAL staff members contribute to the general training programme, and in particular to the specialisation Historic Interiors.
