At the Faculty of Humanities research in conservation of cultural heritage is carried out as part of the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research (AIHR).

Within AIHR, conservation research projects are placed with various research groups of the Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture (AHM). They all fit the scope of the University’s research priority area ‘Cultural Heritage and Identity’, expressed through the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI).

Cross-disciplinary research projects related to conservation also take place in collaboration with the Faculty of Science (FNWI), often carried out within one of the research groups of the Van ’t Hoff Institute of Molecular Sciences (HIMS). In addition, there are many joint projects with our research partners, museums and other cultural heritage institutions.
