Financial proof

For the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) you need to provide us with financial proof showing that you have sufficient financial means to cover both your living expenses and your tuition fee.

Living expenses

The minimum amount needed for your living expenses is €900 per month. The full amount you have to cover corresponds to the number of months you will be enrolled (but up to 12 months). For example, if the duration of your programme is:

  • from September to February (1st semester): 5 months x €900 = €4,500
  • from February to August (2nd semester): 7 months x €900 = €6,300
  • One year or more: 12 months x €900 = €10,800

Please note that the amount is determined by the IND and indicates their estimate of your monthly costs, including any expected increase. For an overview of living expenses and money matters, see the link below.

Tuition fee

(not applicable to Exchange students)

The tuition fee differs per study programme, the amount needed corresponds to a full academic year of your programme.

Proof of financial means

  • You can select multiple options to prove that you have sufficient financial means to cover both your living expenses and tuition fee.
  • Preferably the tuition fee is paid in advance, before the (visa and) residence permit application is submitted. If it is not possible for you to pay the tuition fee in advance, you can choose between the options mentioned below to prove how you are financing your tuition fee.
  • Please note that all documents must be in Dutch, English, French or German. If your documents are in another language, you must arrange for the documents to be translated by an official translator.
  • Preferably, all documents should be uploaded in PDF format.
  • You can calculate your local currency in Euros via xe.com.
