Disabled students

Between five and nine per cent of all UvA students have a disability or chronic illness. A distinction is generally made between physical and mental disabilities, dyslexia and chronic conditions. A disability or chronic condition need not impede students from earning a degree certificate or taking up employment. In some cases, adjustments must be made to enable the student to effectively participate in a degree programme. The UvA offers support by providing or funding additional supervision to students requiring such assistance in connection with their disability. For more information, see the ‘Studying with a disability' student portal, a facility developed in collaboration with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS/HvA).
