All Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at the UvA emphasise the link between teaching and research. This approach teaches students to adopt a critical, enquiring attitude.
From the very start of their degree programme, students learn that knowledge is subject to constant change. They also learn to deal with the complexity inherent to continually changing perspectives as a result of new research results. The concept of research-intensive education is integrated into the curriculum and courses in a balanced manner.
Since learning relates to unresolved questions, it always takes place in a research mode. The curriculum serves to support students’ intellectual experience with research as a learning process. Much of the training currently provided at the UvA is already research-intensive.
