Claudia Emilie Aanonsen is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam and part of the Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis (ASCA). She is also a doctoral fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
Aanonsen’s PhD project analyses the formation of cybersecurity strategies. With theories from International Relations and a methodological framework building from Science and Technology Studies and Critical Security and Data Studies, she explores how cybersecurity is understood and problematised though processes configured by practises, technologies, and discourses.
She holds an MSc from SOAS, University of London where her thesis explored how digitalization affects governance and distribution of power. In addition, Aanonsen holds a BA from the University of Copenhagen where she studied religion and politics in the Middle East.
