Before starting Ph.D. program, I worked as a clinical psychologist in Tehran, Iran diagnosing and treating clients in hospitals, private and public clinics implementing CBT and psychodrama among others. The Ph.D. research is focused on comparing the effectiveness of psychodrama and CBGT in the treatment of social anxiety disorder under the supervision of professor Arnoud Arntz and dr Corine Dijk. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most effective psychological treatment for social anxiety disorder (SAD). Nevertheless, many patients with SAD fail to respond adequately and are still symptomatic after treatment. Psychodrama is a therapeutic method that helps patients to dramatize their psychological and social problems by role-playing, rather than just talking about them. Psychodrama and CBT are often seen as complementary. The Ph.D. research aims to compare CBT, psychodrama and their combination in group format as treatments for SAD and compare them to a waitlist condition in a randomized controlled trial. This study conducts in adults with SAD in Tehran, Iran.
