  • Profile

I am an Assistant Professor at ASCA. I am also a recipient of a Starting Grant from the European Research Council, in which I will be leading a team of researchers - as a Principal Investigator - to study the networks of Yoruba Print Culture..  My book, "African Literature in the Digital Age", is published by James Currey, an imprint of Boydell & Brewer. You can purchase your copy in advance  via Amazon UK.

More information about the book is at this link.  I am a co-editor of a scholarly peer-reviewed project Digital Africas -  I am also working on a second book, which builds on the first monograph. This  will be a study on class consciousness in Nigeria, as it theorizes the intersectional links between class, gender, sexuality and politics, as well as examines the representation of these links in a variety of literary and performing arts genres. I was previously a lecturer and researcher at the University of Bremen, a postdoctoral researcher in African literature at the University of Bayreuth (2013-15), and Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Leeds (2012-13) I have a PhD in literature from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the University of Westminster, London, UK (Class of 2002). I am the publisher and editor of The New Black Magazine. As a journalist, I have worked in various capacities for organisations such as BBC News Online, The Guardian (UK), The Times Higher, The Times Educational Supplement,, The Independent (UK) and The Christian Science Monitor.
