    Kwabena Owusu Asubonteng is a Ph.D. candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and UNU-INRA Research Fellow for Geo-Information Systems (GIS). He holds a Master of Science degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from the International Institute of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (the Netherlands) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana). At the latter university, he also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management. His Ph.D. study analyses the effects of the expansion of tree-crop systems on landscape structure and the delivery of ecosystem services. Before starting his Ph.D. trajectory, Kwabena had over eight years of professional experience in the areas of forest management, community mobilization for natural resource governance, remote sensing, spatial analysis, landscape ecology, participatory mapping, and in developing and teaching courses in geographic information systems and remote sensing. Kwabena has worked as a consultant in natural resource management and as a GIS expert for private companies and NGOs and has contributed to several publications on natural resource management in Ghana and beyond. He was contributing author to Ghana’s Fourth National Greenhouse Gas Inventory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change He is also a member of the Ghana Institute of Foresters and African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE).
