Michelle Geraerts is PhD candidate in the ERC Project Worlds of Lithium. Her research follows the afterlives of lithium batteries in the midst of Norway’s energy transition to electric mobility. She traces current developments in science, policy, and industry in order to learn what happens to end-of-life car batteries. For this project, she engages with debates in the fields of energy humanities, infrastructure, materiality, discard studies, and feminist science and technology studies. Michelle has a background in Cultural Anthropology with a specialisation for sustainable citizenship, and has previously conducted research with artists that creatively challenge the divides between human/nonhuman and natural/artificial.
