    Dr. Hernandez is a Postdocoral Researcher in the Amsterdam School of Communication Research and a Lecturer in the Communication Science Department. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Urban Mental Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Science from Universita della Svizzera Italiana (USI). His work centers around issues of race and representation. He has published in Latino Studies, Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education, Journal of International Students, Globalisation, Societies, and Education, among others.

    • Critical Beings Podcast – a research-based podcast illuminating notions of criticality in body-oriented professions. Part of a larger project around health and fitness
    • Diversity in the Classroom Project – a project examining how students of the UvA conceptualize and navigate issues of diversity during their studies 
    • Centre for Urban Mental Health Narrative Interview Project – a project designed to identify the role of narrative in the construction of complex health communication theory and provide the UMH with an overview of relationships between projects
    • Museum Social Media Inclusion/Exclusion project – an analysis of social media representation on TikTok accounts of two Dutch Museusm and how  this representation contributes to imaginaries of inclusion/exclusion
