    Sofia Larriera Santurio is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Amsterdam, where she works at the Amsterdam Law Clinics. She coordinates the Fair Trials Clinic, co-supervises the Business and Human Rights Clinic and assists the ALC Director in other teaching and research activities. Her main interests include (international) criminal justice and criminology, business and human rights, gender issues, collaborative lawyering and strategic litigation.

    Before joining the University of Amsterdam, Sofia worked as a Research and Teaching Associate at the Kalshoven-Gieskes Forum on IHL at Leiden University, supervising research projects and assisting in the general coordination of the IHL Clinic.

    Sofia holds an advanced LLM (Masters in Law) in Public International Law, with specialisation in International Criminal Law from Leiden University. Prior to coming to the Netherlands, Sofia completed her bachelor’s in law in Brazil and specialised in criminal law, working for many years in the domestic field, mainly as a defense lawyer. Parallel to the work at law firms, Sofia co-founded a feminist civil society organisation aiming to fight gender inequality and gender-based violence through the law and the judiciary. One of the main activities carried out during her time with the group was the pro bono legal assistance to victims of gender-based violence.
