    About Me

Dr. Aofei Lv started her Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research of University of Amsterdam in May 2015. She works on the ERC funded research project, ‘ Authoritarianism in a Global Age’, by focusing on China's internet and informatization development as well as policies of students studying abroad.

She studies Chinese politics and society, public policy, media, policy entrepreneurs, authoritarian resilience, and health policy. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Glasgow, and a BA and Master (both Honour) in Political Science from Nankai University in Tianjin, China.

Her PhD research examines how and why health policy changed in China between 2003 and 2009 by focusing on three actors outside the political system, namely, experts, media and international organizations. She conducted fieldwork in China involving interviews with central level health officials and policy outsiders. She argues that after the SARS outbreak, the experts, the media, and international organisations influenced the health policies as a ‘Policy Entrepreneurial Coalition’ (PEC), the result of which was a combination of normal and paradigmatic policy changes between 2003 and 2009.
