  • About

Mónika Simon is a computational social scientist specializing in political communication and journalism. She obtained her training at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCOR) and currently holds a postdoctoral position at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) as part of the University Research Priority Area on Trust in the Digital Society (TRUST RPA). Her research focuses on tracing narratives of trust and distrust on social media platforms, with a particular interest in understanding the behaviors of human subjects in relation to these narratives. Mónika collaborates closely with research leads Marc Tuters from the Faculty of Humanities, who specializes in Media Studies, and Jan B. Engelmann from the Faculty of Economics, who focuses on Neuroeconomics. Together, they aim to unravel the dynamics through which narratives of trust and distrust spread on social media and to uncover the underlying factors that influence individuals' susceptibility to these narratives.
