    Natalie Welfens is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science of the University of Amsterdam. Her research project analyses Germany’s humanitarian admission programmes for Syrian refugees and was awarded a Young Talent research grant by the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research).

    Natalie holds a Double-Master in International Relations and Political Science from Sciences Po Paris and the Free University Berlin, and a Bachelor in European Studies from Sciences Po Paris, Campus Nancy. After her Master she worked as a research associate at the Center for European Integration of the Free University Berlin, where she was teaching seminars on European refugee and migration policy. Before that, she gained first working experiences through internships at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    She is founding member of Polis180, a Berlin-based grassroots think tank for European and Foreign Policy, member of Netzwek Flüchtlingsforschung, and board member of the Amsterdam Research Center for Gender and Sexuality (ARC-GS).
