Participate in UvA Matching Communication Science

Choosing the right programme will increase your chances of succeeding in your studies. For this reason, UvA Matching is a mandatory part of the application procedure for all prospective Bachelor’s students who have completed their prior education at a Dutch educational institution.

What is UvA Matching Communication Science?

Information for prospective students

During UvA Matching you will take part in the study programme of the Bachelor’s in Communication Science. This includes attending lectures and reviewing course materials. You will finish UvA Matching with a test. You will then receive personal advice on the basis of your test results. This will help you determine whether this study programme is a good fit for you and whether you have the motivation and study skills to start the programme in September.

Who is UvA Matching for?

Participation in UvA Matching is mandatory for:

Prospective students who have applied for a Bachelor’s programme at the UvA for the first time and who have completed their prior education at a Dutch educational institution. This includes prospective students applying with a hbo propedeuse (first-year diploma from a Dutch University of Applied Sciences). You can find more general information on the UvA Matching here.

Registration

After enrolling for the Bachelor’s programme in Communication Science in Studielink, you will need to register for UvA Matching through your personal Enrolment Checklist. Make sure to pay close attention to the registration deadline.

Programme UvA Matching Communication Science

The programme consists of lectures, studying literature, completing assignments and examination. The UvA Matching takes a number of days (approximately 28 hours in total). After you have completed all the study activities, you will receive a personal study advice. Now you determine whether the Bachelor of Communication Science suits you, and whether you have the right motivation to start in September.

Data UvA Matching Communication Science

  • On-campus matching week (for Dutch students of the English track in Communication Science): Tuesday 31 May until Monday 6 June. Only the first day (Tuesday 31 May) is on-campus in Amsterdam. Assignments, examination, etc. take place online.

Preparation

Once you have registered for UvA Matching you will receive an email (three weeks prior to UvA Matching at the latest) with more information about the programme, how to best prepare yourself and the literature.

Are you in need of provisions during UvA Matching?

If you have a disability (for example, dyslexia) or chronic condition that requires support, contact us (prior to the start of UvA Matching).

Bring a proof of identity

Make sure to bring a valid proof of identity (passport or a Dutch identity card) to the teaching day.
