An education in the social sciences will impart a broad range of skills that easily translate into a multitude of careers.
Specific career examples from alumni of the Conflict Resolution and Governance programme are:
I use concepts and theories I acquired during the Master's in Conflict Resolution and Governance and I regularly contact former lecturers and fellow alumni to share ideas. - Cate van Kessel, alumna in Conflict Resolution and Governance
You will develop the capacity to employ theoretical orientations to make sense of the range of influences (from global to local and instrumental to identity-based and institutional) that shape conflicts and their relationship to governance. Your capacity to draw on the most vexing features of contemporary conflicts to shape governance regimes from the fabric of crisis will be increased. You will gain skills in conflict analysis, in negotiation and conflict resolution, and in linking research with practice.
And I am still in touch with my fellow students, who are now dispatched throughout the world. - Rosa Dinissen, alumna in Conflict Resolution and Governance
You can make use of a wide variety of career tools and support from the UvA Student Careers Centre (SCC) during your studies. The SCC organises career events, workshops, training courses, as well as CV checks, interview practice sessions and much more.
The UvA Student Careers Centre organises several events for Bachelor's and Master's students from all disciplines. They include workshops, labour market trends, inspiring speakers, CV check, contact with employers, having a professional LinkedIn photo taken and best practises for applying to jobs.
The various activities that I undertook myself, however, were also enormously important. - Swaan van Iterson, alumna in Conflict Resolution and Governance
