Master Forensic Science

Vivian Kalamara, MSc student

I applied and started the master’s programme in Forensic Science in 2015 after I graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. I was interested in forensic science and research during my whole bachelor’s studies because it combines scientific research with case work and application of science in forensic cases.

I have been abroad for research during an Erasmus program and I find it fascinating to do my master at a well-known university and cooperating with people from different countries and cultures.

At the end of the first year I realised that I am really interested in research concerning (epi)genetics and next generation sequencing in the field of forensic science and I tried to focus my literature thesis and research project into this direction. My plan is to work on research in order to contribute in improvement of methods which are used for tracking down forensic cases.

My future plan is to work on research in the field of (epi)genetics in order to serve the justice system by applying new methods for solving forensic cases.
